Global Regulatory Update, March 21-27, 2021

The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand has issued continuing airworthiness notice 02-002 to detail the requirements under which a person performing maintenance on a type-certificated product may manufacture replacement parts to be fitted to that product.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-0063R1 for Airbus A380-841s, -842s and -861s, requiring replacement of steel braided polyurethane flexible oxygen hoses, effective March 19, 2021.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-0073 for Airbus A380-841s, -842s and -861s, requiring modification of engine low pressure shut-off valve electrical harness routing, effective March 29, 2021.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-0080 for Rolls-Royce Deutschland Tay 620-15s and Tay 650-15s, requiring inspection and replacement of low pressure turbine stage 2/3 discs, effective March 31, 2021.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 21-043 for Airbus A320 family, amending time limits and maintenance checks under airworthiness limitations section certification maintenance requirement, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-0082 for Airbus A380-841s, -842s and -861s, requiring modification of aft pylon fairing rear drain pipes sealing, effective April 2, 2021.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 21-044 for Pilatus PC-6s, requiring inspection and modification of aileron, elevator and rudder hinge bolt installations, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-05-11 for Boeing 757s, requiring repetitive operational tests of the spoiler inhibit function and for certain airplanes installing a new relay bracket assembly, making changes to the wire bundles for certain spoiler control modules, installing new modules, and for a certain other airplanes, changing certain wire bundles, effective April 19, 2021.

FAA has issued safety alert for operators 21002 alerting aircraft owners, operators, air agencies and maintenance technicians of fraudulent or intentionally false entries in airworthiness records of parts that may be used on type-certificated products by Big Wings Interiors. Big Wings used a fraudulent or intentionally false reproduction and/or alteration of a record of airworthiness for certificate of flammability testing in its approval for return to service of cabin seats after reconditioning.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-05-20 for all Airbus A318-111s and -112s; A319-111s, -112s, -113s, -114s and -115s; A320-211s, -212s, -214s and -216s; A321-111s, -112s, -211s, -212s and -213s, requiring modifying and re-identifying the 3-lug aft engine mount assemblies and modifying and re-identifying the 4-lug aft engine mount assemblies, effective April 21, 2021.

Transport Canada has issued airworthiness directive CF-2021-08 for De Havilland Aircraft of Canada DHC-8-401s and -402s, requiring removing and replacing the #6 outer wing fuel access panel assembly and other actions, effective March 23, 2021.

Transport Canada has issued CF-2021-09 for Airbus Canada A220-100s and -300s, requiring an inspection of the right and left motive flow flexible fuel line assemblies and corrective actions for twisted or damaged fuel lines or damaged shrouds and other actions, effective March 25, 2021.

Transport Canada has issued CF-2021-10 for Airbus Canada A220-100s and -300s, requiring replacing the emergency locator transmitter antenna with a new antenna and inspecting the exterior fuselage skin around the antenna attachment holes for damage and repairing any damage found, effective April 1, 2021.
