LONDON—Former Embraer CEO Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva is re-entering the aerospace industry after being appointed to the board of Rolls-Royce.
Silva served as CEO of Embraer between 2016 and 2019 and led the ultimately ill-fated tie-up with Boeing.
He will join the aero-engine manufacturer's board on Sept. 1 and become a member of Rolls-Royce’s Nominations, Culture & Governance Committee and Safety, Energy Transition and Tech Committee.
Since his departure from Embraer, Silva has taken up non-executive director roles in Brazil at power company Cemig and at state-run oil producer Petrobras.
Anita Frew, chair of the Rolls-Royce board, said Silva would bring his experience of the aviation industry and an international mindset to the company and the board’s discussions.
“I look forward to bringing my international aerospace expertise to the role and contributing during a time of significant change for the company,” Silva said.
