Yuri Slyusar, CEO of Sukhoi parent United Aircraft Corp, briefs the press on Nov. 14 at the Dubai Airshow on the capabilities and status of the self-funded Checkmate fighter development program.

The Checkmate is designed to be a lightweight, single-engined and stealthy fighter, with diverterless supersonic inlets and an internal weapons bay to reduce the radar cross section.
Rostec released a limited edition perfume as part of the Checkmate marketing campaign during the Dubai Airshow, adding fragrance to a long list of sometimes unusual marketing gimmicks employed to sell advanced weapon systems.

Rostec introduced the Checkmate low-cost fighter to Dubai Airshow visitors during a spectacular event inside a dedicated pavilion on the Dubai Airshow’s static display. Sound, lights and even a perfume are part of the multisensory promotion endeavor.
