The MD-11 aircraft is reaching a milestone: its first retirements. The aircraft due to be retired were operated by World Airways, which is being restructured under parent Global Aviation Holdings’s Chapter 11 filing. Aviation Week fleet data show that seven of Worlds’ MD-11s, two of which were passenger aircraft, are parked.

MTU Maintenance Hannover extended an existing engine contract with JetBlue Airways to include MRO for all of the operator's V2533 engines. The amended contract will run until 2020 with a five year renewal option. Avionics/IFE

Lufthansa Technik extended its contract with Germanwings for the Cyclean engine wash system, which will cover the IAE V2500 and CFM International CFM56-5B engines on the operator's fleet of 31 Airbus A319 aircraft and any additional aircraft it adds in the next two years.

Aircraft Service International Group (ASIG) signed an exclusive agreement with GE Aviation to become its third-party service provider for the ClearCore engine wash system. ASIG will first launch the wash system in California and Florida.

STS Component solutions acquired two ATR 42-300s for part out from Arkas S.A airlines. The aircraft are powered with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW121 engines, which STS will put into an asset pool for lease or sale to aircraft operators and MROs.
