Western Europe's Top Five Engine MRO Countries

Spain has Western Europe's fifth highest engine MRO spend--estimated at $275.2 million in 2019 by Aviation Week.

France, which headquarters airframe giant Airbus and engine company Safran, is also home to a number of prominent MROs including AFI KLM E&M and Revima. Its engine MRO segment is worth $422.5 million in 2019, according to Aviation Week data.

Home to airlines Ryanair and AerLingus, one of the world's largest leasing communities and growing MRO activities at Shannon and Dublin airports, Ireland has one of Western Europe's highest engine spends. For 2019, Aviation Week estimates this at $648.9 million.

Germany is Western Europe's second largest engine maintenance location, with around $1 billion in segment spend predicted for this year. The country's largest engine provider is Lufthansa Technik, which carries out engine services from Hamburg along with its N3 Engine Overhaul Services joint venture operated with Rolls-Royce.

The UK, with its abundance of engine MRO centers and a fleet surpassing 1,000 aircraft in 2019, will generate an estimated $1.2 billion in engine maintenance spend this year, according to Aviation Week data. Its largest fleets are British Airways, EasyJet, Virgin Atlantic, Flybe and Jet2.
