Global Regulatory Update, July 19-25, 2020

The National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil has issued airworthiness directive BR-2020-07-01 for Yabora Industria Aeronautica ERJ 190-400s, amending aircraft flight manual for engine n1 setting limitation, effective July 15, 2020.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China grounded Sichuan Airlines’ Flight 3U8392 from Cairo, Egypt, to Chengdu for one week starting July 6 after six passengers on this flight turned up positive in COVID-19 nucleic acid tests on June 27.

EASA has issued urgent directive for Airbus A319s, A320s, A321s and A330s, requiring inspection of and operational restriction on removable display unit and display docking station attachment interface, effective July 21, 2020.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2020-0153 for Airbus A319s, A320s and A321s, requiring replacement of rear fuselage clips, shear webs and angles, effective July 24, 2020.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2020-0154 for Rolls-Royce Deutschland Trent 1000s, requiring replacement of fuel pump, effective July 17, 2020.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 20-113 for Airbus: A330-223Fs, -243Fs, A340-213s and -313s, amending time limits and maintenance checks under safe life airworthiness limitations section part 1, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness 2020-0158 for Pilatus PC-24s, requiring modification of electrical harness installation, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2020-0157 for Airbus A380-841s, -842s and -861s, requiring inspection and modification of landing gear gravity extension system, effective July 30, 2020.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2020-0160 for Pilatus PC- 24s, requiring replacement of cockpit and cabin evaporator filters, effective July 30 2020.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2020-14-09 for certain Boeing 737-8s and 737-9s, requiring removing Kathon FP 1.5 biocide from the fuel tanks and engines, installing a fuel limitation placard and revising the existing airplane flight manual to prohibit operation of the airplane with Kathon FP 1.5 biocide in a fuel tank or engine, effective July 15, 2020. Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency continues work on providing Russian airlines with subsidies for partial compensation for expenses due to the decrease in their revenues resulting from the fall in passenger traffic. Since May 14, 2020, the agency received 89 applications for subsidies and made positive decisions on 65 applications worth $161 million.

Transport Canada has issued airworthiness directive CF-2014-07R1 for MHI RJ Aviation CRJ 100s and 440s, requiring actions to correct cracking of skin panels and skin splice joints and angles at stringers 6 and 20 between fuselage station 409.00 and 589.00, effective July 27, 2020.

Transport Canada has issued airworthiness directive CF-2020-25 for Airbus Canada A220-100s and -300s, implementing time limits and maintenance checks under airworthiness limitations, effective July 30, 2020.
