Gallery: Inside Air India Engineering Services' Delhi Facility

In total, Air India Engineering Services operates three hangars at Delhi. The hangars are capable of handling Airbus A320 family (A319, A320, A321, A321neo) and Boeing 737NG aircraft.

Each hangar has capacity to accommodate one aircraft. They all hold Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approval for all major checks. Other services including engine changes and borescope inspections can also be conducted at the facility.

In one of the hangars at Delhi, AIESL operates an engine shop for V2500, CFM56-5B and JT8D engines. This engine facility is capable of undertaking repairs on 50 engines annually. It currently holds DGCA and FAA approval, and the MRO provider is now seeking European Union Aviation Safety Agency certification.

In addition to these services, AIESL also holds DGCA approval for wheels and brakes overhaul and repairs on escape slides, oxygen cylinders, battery repairs and electrostatic discharge sensitive components.

Total capacity of AIESL's Delhi operation is estimated at 378,000 ft.²

A large proportion of AIESL's maintenance work, estimated at around 90% in 2020, is generated from Air India. However, following the privitization of the airline earlier this year, AIESL is now looking at new MRO markets in order to grow market share.
