Five Aircraft Lighting Products Becoming More Versatile

Product: AeroLEDs designs and manufactures LED-based landing, taxi, navigation, anti-collision strobe and interior lighting for aircraft from its FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) facility in Boise, Idaho. The company has developed what it says is the industry’s first true dual-function landing and taxi light, the SunSpot Equinox, which consumes less power, produces more lumens and remains unaffected by vibrations compared to incandescent bulbs.
Product: Established in 1935, Amglo manufactures and services aircraft exterior lamps for all segments of aviation. It says it is the only FAA-PMA-certified supplier of halogen sealed-beam lamps for applications such as landing and taxi lamps and logo lights. Its halogen Q5559 landing lamp and Q5551 taxi lamp were recently included in Boeing’s Illustrated Parts Catalog, and Amglo says the Q5559 lasts up to three times longer than competing products.
Product: Cobalt Aerospace may be best known for its flagship product, a drop-in LED mood-lighting system for aircraft interiors, called Cobalt Spectrum. The system features several unique and patent-pending features such as Age Correction Technology, which uses smart algorithms to prevent yellowing light washes as units age. It also features Virtual Light Modes that allow customers to choose from more than 16 million colors to customize interior light displays.
Product: IFE Products manufactures and repairs aircraft LED lighting and inflight entertainment (IFE) equipment, offering exterior and interior LED lamps to replace existing filament lamps in aircraft fixtures. It says its LED lamps are FAA-PMA-certified as direct replacements for most commercial, military and business aircraft fleet types and are plug and play, requiring no aircraft modifications for installation.
Product: Aveo Engineering provides external and interior LED lighting to all segments of aviation, ranging from business, commercial and military aircraft to powered parachutes and space vehicles. It recently introduced a series of high-performance landing and taxi-light systems designed to replace legacy landing and taxi lighting on larger business and commercial aircraft.
