SpaceX on Rumored Layoffs

The SpaceX rumor mill has been grinding this week, suggesting the Hawthorne, Calif.-based company is having cashflow issues and had to let go some 10% of its workforce. Not sure of the current headcount, but with facilities in California, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Washington DC, they're up to 3000+ employees.

Below is SpaceX's statement regarding the workforce reduction, emailed to me by spokesman John Taylor in the wee hours of July 26 CET:

"There was an annual review cycle completed recently, along with some rebalancing of resources. Our resulting headcount reduction was less than 5%. SpaceX expects to see net-positive employee growth in 2014 of approximately 20%."
