Dingos Against Daesh

Germany has delivered more material to the Kurdish Peshmerga fighting the so-called Islamic State (ISIS, also known as Daesh).

A leased Antonov A-124 lifted off from Leipzig/Halle on the afternoon of Sept. 4 and landed in Erbil, northern Iraq, in the evening after a planned stopover in Baghdad.

The delivery consisted of two Dingo 1 protected vehicles, 25 metal detectors and other equipment for mine detection, 1,500 G36 assault rifles with two million rounds, 100 Milan anti-tank missiles, and vehicle lubricants and anti-freeze.

Ironically, the G36s are being phased out of the Bundeswehr because of alleged poor performance in hot climates.
