Registration for Bombardier’s 2023 Safety Standdown, an annual safety training event offered at no charge, is now open.

Bombardier’s annual Safety Standdown began in 1996 as private safety training for Bombardier’s Learjet flight team in Wichita. Now, in the interest of industry-wide safety, the event is open to all pilots, crew members, technicians, managers and other aviation professionals no matter the company or manufacturer.

The event will be held Nov. 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Wichita. The general session and selected workshops will be webcast online.

This year’s theme, “Integrity in Safety,” will highlight personal responsibility and its effect at the individual and at the administrative level. The Safety Standdown will include daily seminars and workshops from industry leaders, such as Flexjet, Joby Aviation, Polarius Aero and others.

Dr. Tony Kern, CEO of Convergent Performance, says this year’s Safety Standdown may be “the most important one in the last 25 years.”

“Our industry is currently undergoing the largest generational handoff of any industry since the industrial age began,” he wrote in a statement. “Tens of thousands of new people are arriving, and just as many are leaving, each year. This will continue for at least a decade.”
