Honeywell is teaming up with Universal Weather and Aviation, an international trip provider, to integrate flight planning and trip support data into Honeywell Forge for business aviation.

“This integration will bring new capabilities and efficiencies to Honeywell Forge customers, as well as give Universal customers access to Honeywell’s leading connectivity services,” says Guido Groeschel, executive vice president of digital product management, Universal.

Users of Honeywell Forge for Business Aviation, a platform that combines inflight connectivity, flight planning, datalink and flight database services in a single view, will now be able to automatically sync Universal Flight Plans, Aircraft Performance Group (APG) Runway Analysis reports, and APG Weight and Balance performance calculations to their Honeywell Forge Dashboard. The generation of this information is still done within Universal’s uvGO Mission Management Platform. In the case of flight plans that are created and filed by Universal’s flight planning team, they will also be synced to Honeywell Forge as well.

This new integration joins others with whom Honeywell Forge has already set up compatibility, including ForeFlight Dispatch and iPreFlight GENESIS, to name a few.

Another key idea behind this partnership is having all operational eyes, including pilots, operations, scheduling and maintenance on a single view with one closed alerting loop, Honeywell says.

Both companies recognize that not all current customers of either provider are necessarily using both companies simultaneously. For that reason, both sides plan to assist anyone with the adjustments that may come with beginning a new subscription or account, if they so choose. In the case of existing Honeywell Forge customers, the company says they will receive support from Universal for any new account setups, including aircraft profile configuration within uvGO and assistance with flight planning optimization and biasing.

“Universal customers who become Honeywell Forge Connectivity Services subscribers will also be able to take advantage of the industry’s first performance-based communication and surveillance (PBCS) monitoring tool, which allows operators to check FANS performance right after an oceanic flight,” Honeywell says.
