Augusta Regional Airport Sees Huge Traffic Levels During Masters Week 2022

Even if you are not a fan of golf, chances are that as a business jet owner, operator, or charter broker, you are likely familiar with the popularity to head to Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) in Georgia for the Masters. 

The Masters, held April 7-10, was the first time the world-renowned golf tournament has allowed full capacity galleries since 2019.

Not to mention, Tiger Woods' dramatic appearance after what many thought would be a career-ending car accident drew some extra attention.

Therefore, it is no surprise that AGS attracted jet owners and operators to the event. 

Typically, AGS accommodates two airlines with flights to a total of four cities. Masters week each April, however, turns this relatively sleepy airport upside down. 

During a normal week, AGS sees about 5,000 passengers. That number jumps to more than 30,000 during Masters week, while the airlines more than double their destination offerings with direct flights to 10 cities. 

Of the more than 1,500 arrivals during Masters week, most of them were business jets.

According to Front Office Sports, the airport recruits 100 new employees and adds 500,000 additional gallons of fuel to ensure everything runs smoothly during Masters week.

Despite the pent-up demand for the Masters this year, arrival and traffic statistics at AGS were not far off from pre-pandemic levels. To visualize it from this video, however, is certainly a sight to be seen.
