Portside, a San Francisco-based technology and software provider for business and government aviation, has acquired the licensing rights for Wheels up affiliate Avianis Systems.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the agreement, Portside will market, service and develop the fleet management system of Avianis. The company will continue to serve Avianis’ existing customer base, market to prospective customers and develop new features for the platform, it says.

Members of the Avionis product and support teams will join Portside to serve customers and future developments. Wheels Up will retain the intellectual property related to Avianis and will continue to maintain and develop its own internal platform as the fleet management system for its fleet.

Portside is developing a cloud-based operating system. Its platform supports more than 800 operators around in more than 30 countries, it says.
