Honda Aircraft Co. is offering a new upgrade package for the HondaJet Elite to increase performance and provide avionics software enhancements for the aircraft.

The package, presented by Honda Aircraft’s Advanced Performance Modification Group, will increase maximum takeoff weight by 200 lb. It will allow operators to carry an additional passenger or extra baggage and fly the same distance, or give the ability to load more fuel and fly further with the same payload.

The avionics software upgrade options include the installation of FAA Datacom and ACARS (Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System), replacing traditional voice commands with text-based messaging to improve clarity and efficiency of communications. Combined with the Advanced Steering Augmentation System (ASAS), the upgrade will reduce pilot workforce and increase crosswind operational capability, the company notes.

FAA Data Comm replaces voice commands with text messages for departure clearance and en route services were available in the U.S., while ACARS enables text messages for air traffic services—such as terminal information, terminal weather and departure clearance from supported airports—and operation centers. ACARS provides flight plan upload, messaging, weather and automatic transmission of position reporting and Out/Off/On/In status.

The upgrade package will be available for installation at Honda Aircraft’s authorized service centers, beginning in the U.S. in 2022.

“We are thrilled to announce the Upgrade Package to our HondaJet Elite owners,” says Amod Kelkar, Honda Aircraft Co. head of the commercial business unit and vice president of customer service. “This upgrade package is another testament of our continued efforts in customer service to provide upgrade options to our ever-growing fleet. We remain committed to setting a new standard in business aviation by advancing innovative design and engineering solutions to our existing business base.”
