The P1S6 production-representative, S/N 6 jet, registered N706GD, broke city-pair speed records this summer flying to Doha from Gulfstream headquarters in Savannah in 13 hr., 16 min. at an average speed of Mach 0.88, and to Le Bourget, France, from Doha in 6 hr., 15 min. at Mach 0.90.

The G700’s Symmetry flightdeck, based on Honeywell Primus Epic avionics, features 10 pilot-facing displays: four 13.1-in. primary-flight and multifunction displays, two touchscreen controllers on the outboard side of each pilot, two touchscreen controllers on the pedestal, and two standby instruments under the glareshield.

The galley of the G700 provides 10 ft. of linear counter space. New galley cabinet doors above the counter slide up to allow access to amenities. A pop-up faucet is embedded in the counter.

The G700’s cabin is quieter than the G650’s and will have the industry’s lowest cabin altitude—2,916 ft. at 41,000 ft.—compared to 3,280 ft. for the G650, Gulfstream says. The cabin will have 100% fresh air instead of recirculated air and be purified by a plasma ionization system.

An integrated tablet holder pops out from the ledge of the G700 cabin. The cabin’s new LED lighting system “uses a dense array of LEDs and precision color control to provide a realistic circadian rhythm experience,” says supplier Heads Up Technologies of Carrollton, Texas.

No Afterthought

Gulfstream offers five different galley and five different aft cabin configurations for the G700. The cabin length excluding baggage is 56 ft. 11 in. The finished cabin height is 6 ft. 3 in. Cabin width is 8 ft. 2 in. Gulfstream and RCO Aerospace developed the new seats.

On Track

There were six aircraft participating in the G700 certification flight-test program, including the P1S6 jet that Gulfstream recently flew to Doha, Qatar and Le Bourget, France. Gulfstream says the G700 remains on track for first customer deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Gulfstream hosted a select group of reporters at its facilities at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport in Georgia. The manufacturer provided an update on the status of its G700 long-range, large-cabin business jet, first announced at NBAA-BACE in 2019. The briefing included a tour of the P1S6 jet that Gulfstream is using for cabin interior testing.
