MOSCOW—The first flight tests of Russia’s new PD-14 turbofan engine have been postponed until October, due to problems with the planned test aircraft, the engine maker’s CEO confirmed.
Aeroflot announced plans to withdraw from service up to 43 aircraft it currently operates under financial lease, “in order to optimize the cost structure and route network.”
Russia’s biggest international carrier, the Aeroflot Group, is downsizing its fleet and possibly restructuring its subsidiaries, after a downturn caused in part by Western sanctions.
