As U.S. airlines gear up for an expected surge in travel demand for the summer season, operators in Canada are still waiting for their government to offer guidance toward easing its heavy restrictions, many of which have been in place for more than a year.

The airline, like other US carriers, foresees a big comeback in leisure traffic this summer, but is less confident about the fall.

American Airlines remains wary of how leisure demand will trend once the U.S. Labor Day holiday closes out the expected busy summer travel season.
