India has moved a significant step closer in integrating its strategic submarines with ballistic missiles after the test launch of a medium-range missile from a submerged platform in the Bay of Bengal. The 10-meter-tall (33-ft.) nuclear-capable missile was launched from a depth of about 50 meters Jan. 27, says Defense Research and Development Organization Director General V.K. Saraswat. NEW DELHI — Israel’s Rafael will spotlight its Iron Dome counter-rocket system at the Aero India 2013 exposition. India has been showing interest in the combat-proven active defense system, which can intercept short-range artillery rockets. The Israeli air force deployed the system in 2011 after the country decided to develop a mobile air defense system following the second Lebanon War in 2006.
