Comac has begun building the first C919, aiming to complete the main structure of the aircraft nose by the end of this year. Revealing a model of the A320-sized narrowbody airliner for the first time, the Chinese manufacturer says the standard version of the aircraft will seat 156 in a mixed business/economy configuration and will fly 4,075 km. (2,530 mi.). An extended range version will reach 5,555 km.

China Airlines of Taiwan lost T$2.37 billion (US$71.8 million) in the first six months of this year, compared with a T$6.53 billion loss a year earlier. Improved results from fuel hedging helped the Taiwanese carrier’s result, despite a 29.5% fall in revenue to T$44.73 billion (US$1.4 billion). Cargo led the way down, with a fall of 51%.
