Before joining Aviation Week in 2006 he was a macroeconomics, politics and aerospace journalist with Reuters. Perrett holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Macquarie University, Sydney. He left Aviation Week in 2020.
Japan Airlines has asked the Japanese government for antitrust immunity for its proposed deepening of cooperation with American Airlines between North America and Asia. The move follows a similar application filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation in February. The proposal for a joint business agreement over the North Pacific is a result of Japan Airlines' February decision to stick with the Oneworld alliance.
Thai Airways International will acquire seven new Airbus 330-300s through financial lease and eight Boeing 777-300ERs aircraft on operating lease, with the equipment to be delivered by 2014. This is on top of a previous order of eight A330-300s and six A380s that will join the fleet by 2013 (DAILY, June 8).
Garuda Indonesia says it will begin expanding flights to European points in February, earlier than its previous plan to do so in 2012. Services to London, Paris, Frankfurt and Rome will strongly increase the carrier's presence in the European market, adding to the Jakarta-Amsterdam flight that it resumed on June 1. The company also said it plans to serve Los Angeles from 2013.
