Before joining Aviation Week in 2006 he was a macroeconomics, politics and aerospace journalist with Reuters. Perrett holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Macquarie University, Sydney. He left Aviation Week in 2020.
AirAsia will begin operating a new booking system with a capacity of almost 1 million bookings a day, beginning July 11. The system was developed over three years. Installing it will require a two-day shutdown of booking services, starting on July 9.
Gulf Technics and partner SIA Engineering aim to open their new maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Bahrain by 2012. The facility will to be able to accommodate up to two widebody aircraft or four narrowbodies, says Project Manager Saleh Al Othman. Construction is expected to start later this year or early next year, he says.
All Nippon Airways will merge three short-haul airline subsidiaries — Air Nippon Network, Air Next and Air Central — into one entity called ANA Wings. The first two subsidiaries are based in Tokyo and the latter in Tokoname in central Japan.
