BEIJING — Chinese mission controllers have braked the Chang’e 2 lunar probe to bring it into an initial orbit around the Moon, with the aim of reducing its velocity twice more to place the spacecraft on its operational track. One of the chief aims of the mission is to achieve an orbit of 100 km. (60 mi.) with a period of 118 min. The initial orbit lasts 12 hr.
Rapidly growing Indian maintenance shop Air Works is negotiating to build a widebody hangar at a major Indian airport, aiming initially at serving customers from India, nearby countries and perhaps Europe. A contract with one of the two airports under consideration should be signed by the end of the year, says Air Works CEO Vivek Gour. Construction of the hangar, with space for one widebody aircraft or two narrowbodies, will take nine to 10 months. Another hangar of about the same size could follow later, Gour tells The DAILY.
