Pratt & Whitney's Record Behind the DC-6 Record (1947)

Pratt & Whitney Aircraft placed this advert on the cover of AVIATION magazine in May 1947 noting ‘the record behind the record’ after a United Air Lines DC-6 set a transcontinental record on March 29 flying from Los Angeles to New York in 6 hours, 47 minutes and 13 seconds.

The company credits its [Double Wasp] engines for the Mainliner's six mile a minute record: “the most widely used, most dependable aircraft engines in the world."
