FARNBOROUGH—Lessor BBAM has signed for nine additional Boeing 737-800BCF converted freighters, the company said at the airshow July 19.
Headquartered in San Francisco, BBAM is one of the largest owners of the 737-800BCF, with 40 already on its books.
The latest aircraft will be delivered in 2024-25 “and we have a number of customers lined up for them,” BBAM SVP, head of freighter programs, John Lynch said. “We’ve seen more customers than we have aircraft available. Traditionally, we have been a passenger aircraft lessor [but the 737-800BCF] has penetrated whole new markets for us.”
The value of the order was not disclosed.
Boeing said BBAM will be the first customer to take delivery of a 737-800BCF conversion at a new conversion line set to open in 2023 at KF Aerospace, a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Two 737-800BCF conversion lines are planned to be in operation at K Aerospace.
“Our partnership with BBAM on the 737-800BCF began with an order for three conversions in 2020, and after a series of incremental orders, BBAM is now one of the largest customers for the 737-800BCF with orders for 40 of the type,” said Kate Schaefer, VP of Boeing’s commercial modifications, engineering & specialty products business.
