The interior refresh and product upgrade across Virgin Australia’s remaining Boeing fleet will begin later this year, with the work set to be complete in the next two years, subject to operational requirements.

A new economy seat design, featuring a ribbed backing to elevate comfort and ergonomics. In-seat power will be supplied for all business class and economy seats.

The new interior features larger overhead bins, with capacity to stow up to 50% more carry-on baggage (individual guest carry-on luggage limits will not increase).

The MAX 8 and the refreshed 737s will be configured in a two-class layout of 31 rows, with eight business class seats and 174 in economy.

Wider business class seats will feature leg rests with extendable footrests, storage compartments, tablet/device holders, and water bottle holders.

A personal tablet/device holder will be provided for all economy seats for viewing inflight entertainment (IFE), movies and TV shows. Inflight Wi-Fi and complimentary IFE (via a guest’s own personal device) will be introduced to majority of remaining 737 fleet.
 

Virgin Australia has unveiled its Boeing 737 MAX 8 cabin interior following research from a two-year prototype study. The new interior features up to 50% extra overhead locker space compared to its existing 737s. Virgin Australia’s remaining 737 fleet will undergo a cabin refurbishment valued at approximately AD $110 million ($72.6 million), featuring new business and economy seats, in-seat power for all seats, and inflight Wi-Fi to majority of aircraft.
