Kuching is only a short flight away from Malaysia's capital city of Kuala Lumpur and forms the central hub and gateway to Sarawak, the largest of the Malaysian states. Sarawak, known as the Land of the Hornbills, is situated on the island of Borneo. Home to the world’s oldest tropical rainforest it offers an abundance of wildlife, which includes rare and endangered species such as the orang-utan and the hornbill. The historic capital city, Kuching, has a population of around 600,000 people and dates back hundreds of years when traders from China and the West would travel there to trade the exotic treasures of the rainforest.
In addition to the core business elements of Routes Asia our Hosts, the Ministry of Tourism Sarawak and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, have kindly arranged a complimentary city tour along with a programme of paid tours and we recommend all delegates make time to explore the city and surrounding area.
