Tour Programme
In addition to the core business elements of Routes Americas our Host and its partners, have kindly arranged a complimentary tour programme and we recommend all delegates make time to explore the city and surrounding area. There are many tours to choose from including:
El Boquerón National Park
Located on top of the San Salvador Volcano the main attraction of El Boquerón National Park is the volcano’s crater which is almost 1km wide. The crater is reached after a short hike through the park, which is home to many plant and wildlife species, and upon reaching their destination visitors will be able to take in the breathtaking views. Taking place on both Saturday 22nd February and Sunday 23rd February, this tour includes a visit to a local restaurant for a traditional Salvadorian snack before heading back to the city.
Land of Treasures
Taking place after the event on Wednesday 26th February this tour will visit Joya de Cerén, one of the most important archaeological sites in Mundo Maya, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tour continues to Suchitoto, a beautiful colonial town in the northern part of the country before lunch at a local restaurant. A guided walk on the town’s cobblestone streets will reveal more about the importance of indigo in the history of Suchitoto and of the country, and an interesting workshop will demonstrate the dyeing techniques used.
Natural Jewels
A visit to La Libertad Port, on the Pacific Coast, is also available on Wednesday 26th February. This tour provides delegates with the unforgettable experience of releasing baby sea turtles. Continuing to Ruta de las Flores, this route goes through several different small towns, surrounded by mountains and coffee plantations. Following lunch at a local restaurant continue to Concepción de Ataco, a charming small town with pleasant weather and colourful handicraft shops surrounded, once again by coffee plantations. Here delegates will enjoy the most charming, authentic and delicious Coffee Tour in the whole region!
