The data is all supplied by Sabre Airline Solutions using its Sabre Airport Data Intelligence tool.
The Busiest O&D Markets Within the Americas
Our analysis of estimated bi-directional O&D passenger traffic for the last year (December 2013 - November 2014) shows that the Brazilian domestic link between Sao Paulo Congonhas (CGH) and Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont (SDU) is the busiest route within the Americas handling approximately 4.58 million passengers during the rolling 12 month period. The downtown link between the two cities is by far the most travelled route across the region, accounting for 81.6 per cent more passengers than its closest rival.
The second busiest route within the Americas is the US transcontinental domestic link between New York John F Kennedy International (JFK) and Los Angeles International (LAX) which carried an estimated 2.52 million bi-directional O&D passengers during the analysis period.
Following behind in third place is the Mexican domestic link between Mexico City Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (MEX) and Cancun International (CUN), in fourth the Colombian domestic route between Bogota El Dorado International (BOG) and Medelin José María Córdova International (MDE) and in fifth the Mexican flight between Mexico City Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (MEX) and Monterrey General Mariano Escobedo International (MTY).
