German leisure carrier Condor plans to increase service to North America during the summer 2024 season with the launch of a new route to Miami and a return to Calgary, Canada.
The airline’s 310-seat Airbus A330-900neo aircraft will operate three flights per week between Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) and Miami International Airport (MIA), starting on May 18. The move sees Condor return to the Florida market after an absence of more than eight years, having previously served Fort Lauderdale until September 2015.
MIA Director and CEO Ralph Cutié welcomed the addition of another nonstop link between the U.S. airport and Europe, saying it adds a further “appealing travel option” across the Atlantic. Thirteen airlines offer flights from MIA to Europe at present, including a link to Frankfurt through Lufthansa’s daily service aboard Boeing 747-8 aircraft.
During the summer 2024 season, Condor will operate to 12 U.S. cities nonstop from Frankfurt. Alongside the new MIA route, the airline plans to serve Anchorage, Baltimore, Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York John F. Kennedy, Phoenix Sky Harbor, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle. Frequencies to Boston Logan International Airport will also double to 6X-weekly compared with summer 2023.
In the Canadian market, Condor plans to return to Calgary International Airport for the first time since September 2019. Flights from FRA will restart on May 27, operating twice a week using A330-900neos. Additionally, operations to Halifax Stanfield International Airport will rise from 3X-weekly to 4X-weekly.
According to data provided by OAG Schedules Analyser, Condor offered 35,000 weekly two-way seats to destinations in North America during peak summer this year, compared with 29,300 during the same period in 2019.
