Between 2015 and 2030, the Chinese outbound travel market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 11%.
With over 100 airlines serving 191 destinations and 247 routes, World Routes 2016 host, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is mainland China’s 4th busiest aviation hub. The capacity of the airport is expected to increase to over 63 million by 2020, and World Routes will provide delegates with a valuable insight into the significant air service opportunities that the region has to offer.
Chengdu has already begun to execute a strategy to accommodate this rapid increase in passenger traffic, through the construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, which is expected to be completed in 2019.
New infrastructures and air routes have also helped Chengdu to establish itself as a leading investment centre. With a dynamic economy and attractive growth prospects, it is unsurprising that the World Bank classed Chengdu as a "benchmark city for the investment environment in inland China."
Over 3,000 delegates from the world’s leading airlines, airports and tourism authorities are expected to attend World Routes, which will be held in Chengdu, China, 24 – 27 September. The event will not only provide delegates with the opportunity to understand the development prospects that Chengdu offers as the fourth largest aviation hub in China, but also have face-to-face meetings with senior decision makers from the global air service community.
