There are just over two weeks left until World Routes opens in Chicago, and we have a large number of airports, airlines and tourism authorities attending for the first time this year.
Network Planners and other key decision makers from a wide range of carriers will attend this year’s event which will take place in Chicago, 20-23 September 2014. The 20th World Route Development Forum will be the largest Routes event to date with an expected 3,000 high profile delegates in attendance.
So far we have almost 800 first time attendees coming to World Routes in Chicago. Attendance from the U.S has been strong this year with 50 U.S airports attending for the first time including Birmingham Airport Authority, Alabama and Tallahessee Regional, Florida.
A large number of tourism authorities will also be attending for the first time including: Zambia Tourism; Zurich Tourism; Canary Islands Tourism and Hamburg Tourism. Brazilian airline, Azul havealsoconfirmed that they will be attending World Routes in Chicago, the first time they have ever attended. This is particularly exciting for the airline in light of their international expansion which has recently been announced, in addition to their ever increasing interline agreements to offer internal Brazilian feed to prospective carriers wishing to access the market. Other first time airline attendees include: Air Asia India, EVA Air, Porter Airlines and BMI.
We currently have over 120 exhibitors at this year’s event, all ready to showcase their airport or destination to the world’s airlines. First time exhibitors this year include: Aeroportos de Mozambique; Busan Gimhae Airport, Korea; City Airport Bremen; Shannon Airport; Milan Airports and Skyscanner. World Routes will return to the US for the second year in a row after last year’s event, which was the first time any Routes event had taken place in the country. The 20th anniversary event, which will be co-hosted by the City of Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism organisation, will be held at McCormick Place, the largest convention facility in the Western Hemisphere. With the most diverse economy in the United States, and home to several of the aviation industry’s leading companies, Chicago makes the perfect home for the 20th World Route Development Forum.
