United Airlines has tapped VP-Corporate Development and Investor Relations Michael Leskinen to succeed CFO Gerald “Gerry” Laderman.

Laderman will serve as EVP, Finance until his previously announced planned retirement in September 2024.

As CFO and EVP Leskinen will oversee United’s corporate finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, accounting, investor relations, procurement, internal audit, risk management and corporate strategy. The promotion is effective immediately. “With two decades of experience on Wall Street and five years as a leading finance executive at United, Mike brings a unique understanding of the public markets combined with an in-depth understanding of our airline and our industry,” United CEO Scott Kirby said.

Leskinen, who has also served as president-United Airlines Ventures (UAV) since 2021, will hand leadership of the corporate venture capital fund over to MD-UAV and corporate development Andrew Chang.

Leskinen joined United in 2018 as MD-investor relations and was promoted to VP-corporate development and investor relations the following year. He is credited with playing a leadership role in securing financing during the pandemic, and overseeing the launch of UAV’s now $200 million Sustainable Flight Fund.
