1966 Boeing 737 Advertisement

This advertisement for the Boeing 737 - "the newest member of world's first family of jets" - appeared in Aviation Week & Space Technology in November 1966.

At that time, 15 airlines had ordered 124 of the jets. Lufthansa German Airlines became the first non-American carrier to launch a Boeing aircraft. The November 14, 1966 issue of AW&ST shows the forward section of the first Lufthansa 737-100.

Almost 49 years later, the baby Boeing is the best-selling jetliner in history.
